Health Tip: A Pediatrician's Role in Special Education

HealthDay News
Updated: Nov 1st 2018

(HealthDay News) -- If your child has a learning disability, your pediatrician may be able to help you and the school system better understand the child's special needs, the American Academy of Pediatrics says.

The pediatrician can assist the school system in figuring out which, if any, special education services the child may be eligible for.

Also, the pediatrician can help the school system better understand the child's disability, and which programs may be best suited to the child.

Lastly, as your child progresses in school, the pediatrician can help both you and the school system understand the child's changing needs, the academy says.
